“Oh, Pure Romance, you sell SEX TOYS, right!?”
This question, or in the form of the statement, “OH! You sell sex toys,” I hear daily when I share that I am a consultant with Pure Romance. And by common, I mean THE NUMBER ONE.
I mean, they aren’t WRONG; because I do. But there is so much more to what I do then sell Sex Toys.
Today, I wanted to share that with YOU!

Breaking the Stigma on Sexual Health – Why I Became a Pure Romance Consultant
First, a little background on me.
I, like many other women, felt uncomfortable discussing sex with my partner, and I was often called a PRUDE for it. It was SO embarrassing when someone would make a joke or comment about sex, and the first time I went into an adult store, I almost cried.
I can’t say when it was specifically, or what sparked the change, but once that door opened for me, it changed my LIFE.
But basically, I found the confidence I lacked to be open-minded about sex. And to educate myself about my body.
Since then, I have taken control of my sex life, and I have been helping women, mainly friends until recently, make a change of their sex life, and share with them tips on how to broach the topic with their partner.
Sex is part of life. It is natural. It’s FUN. Why not make the most of it?

Breaking the Stigma
I don’t understand where it comes from in this day, but it’s still ingrained in our brains that sex is for the man. Yes, this does seem to be changing slowly, but that stigma still stands, and it’s still strong.
We aren’t “supposed” to feel pleasure, and we aren’t “supposed” to discuss it with our partners. And don’t get me started on the shame for exploring one’s own body and indulging in self-pleasure.
We have sex ed classes that give us a Waterdown version on our anatomy. That yes, explains the repercussions of sex, how to protect from pregnancy and infections, and how the safest sex is no sex.
Where Pure Romance is concerned, the assumption that all we do as consultants are sell sex toys, slap in the face to what we do.

There, I said it. While yes, Pure Romance has a strong focus on the happenings in the bedroom, there is an even stronger focus on:
- Confidence
- Health
- Beauty
- Empowerment
- Education
But what does that mean?
I share ways to build their confidence and love for their body, in and OUT of the bedroom.
I educate women about their bodies, something most women have never experienced before from even their doctor. Like, how to achieve an orgasm.
I give women a safe place to ask questions about their bodies. A safe place to discuss intimate issues that they may not feel comfortable talking to anyone else they’re close to. Yet.
I empower women to take control of their sexual health, wants, and needs.
I change lives.

I’ve always been Talking Openly about sex with my mom.. but you know there’s only so much that my moTher knows. Working at a sex shop for a year was a game changer – and to date my favorite job ever. I was reading on the topic, explained how to use them properly and safely, anSwer their questions.. nothing is more rewarding than selling a toy so much greater than what they oriGinally came for, or even to give them the full informations!

I know a lot of women who either think this is unaccepable to talk about let alone do. i was rapped when i wa 15 & it altered my perception of sex and my body, but it took me years to wrap my heart around self-confidence. you’re so right a healthy sex life can boost so much about your life. thanks for sharing
