Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet.
Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's high school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she get him out of her mind?
Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, fighting fate isn't going to be easy.
Pick it for me freebie reads #15! Thanks for voting!
Having had the last few winners in the monthly poll be less than… stellar, I was really excited to start Remembrance. Thank the stars, it was a good one. Remembrance is a sweet story about love, friendship and second chances.
Reincarnation is not only a fascinating concept to read on, but also to think and debate about. Is there life beyond this one? Are we reincarnated to fix our mistakes? Is this just the way of life? I have read a few books thus far on reincarnation, and they all have been very different in their meaning, reasoning and beliefs. I love the idea here, that we are given a second change to fix any mistakes we made in our previous life. We all know there are quite a few things we could fix. 😉
Elizabeth is your average teenager, with good friends, decent grades and a long term boyfriend. When Drew transfers to her school her junior year, she feels this unexplainable pull and swears she knows him. He isn’t the nicest guy and in turn, starts dating her best friend, Chelsea. Although she knows it isn’t right to pine after her best friends boyfriend, and of course since she has one of her own, she can’t stop the roller coasters decent once it’s started.
Lizzie was such a down to earth girl, that I would easily see myself friends with. She is quiet, caring and very sweet. There were times I felt really bad for her, with how torn she was about the entire situation and how her relationship was with her boyfriend, Jeremy. Their relationship though, is a realistic portrayal of how some long term relationships end up. People change, and even though we try and adapt to that, it doesn’t always work. I thought she handled it well and I admired her for sticking to her decision, even though she was being pressured to fix things and thinking that Drew didn’t want her. As for Drew; there were times I wanted to strangle him. He was so sweet but then he would turn about and act like the biggest douche. He was so hot and cold all the time. The story about the two in the past so so sweet and cute. However, I did find it odd that Drew knew more than Lizzie did; but in a way, that was explained. I was hoping for more flashbacks, but I enjoyed the few we got..
We also have quite a few other characters worth mentioning. Chelsea, Lizzie’s best friend. Honestly, my heart went out to her initially but when things started to hit the fan, I lost a lot of respect for her. Keelie, a new friend to Lizzie. She was sweet and I loved how those two just clicked. And then there is Alistair. His appearances are small but very significant. Very interesting what was thrown in there, regarding him, his past and role as well.
My Peeve- Although these two loved each other in the past, I felt like their attraction was a little insta lovey.
Overall- I really liked it! Remembrance is a well written, sweet love story. I am really curious about the next one, because I want to know what is up Chelsea’s sleeve!
