SO. I have been debating on whether or not I was going any type of… wrap up post, or “Best of.. 2013” post, or “my year in blogging.” But honestly? I was being lazy, so I wasn’t going to…I know that sounds some kind of way, but well, it’s the honest truth. And we all LOVE honesty, yes?
Anyway. Here I am.
2013 was a huge year for me. In more aspects than one, but I am sure y’all don’t want all the gory and boring details of my life.
Too bad, because I am doing it anyway.
It’s been almost a year since I changed my “stay at home mom vent blog” to a book review blog. Awesome, yes? This is when Lilybloombooks was born. It’s been fun, challenging, fulfilling and I wont lie, stressful. But I wouldn’t change anything. Except my lay out and colors and themes, because I do that a lot.
I got a new job. Which most of you know because I complain ALL.THE.TIME about it. I do love it, it’s challenging and I can actually SEE myself going places. Which is nice, ya know? The hubby also started a new job, which is slow at the moment and really sucks. But that means he is home and can help with cleaning, cooking and being Mr. Mom.
The boys are great! They are constantly in trouble for their sassy mouths. I wonder where they got THAT from.. *looks around* We are aiming to do more as a family. We are ALL really independent, which is good, but I do think we need to spend MORE time together.
I went to TWO signing/festivals this year. The RWA signing back in.. July. See that wrap up HERE (it’s a good one Check it out!). I also went to the Decatur Book Festival over Labor Day Weekend. This was two days of book signings, panels and FUN with family and friends. See that wrap up HERE and HERE.
I also discovered that Kasie West and Sarah Fine are two of the sweetest women. Seriously.
Let’s see.. what else…
I met some awesome people. Online and in person, authors and bloggers alike. I have three really close friends whom I would be lost without (no joke) and sometimes, I really wonder where I would be, had we not met. Of course, I just love everyone and I am thankful that I have found an awesome, loving and hilarious bunch of people that I have. Okaaaaaaay, mushy stuff over.
You readers have made Lilybloombooks what it is. I just bring the snark, the love and the honesty. SO THANK YOU. Authors, Bloggers, followers and best of all Friends, because you all have truly made my year great.
Okay, maybe the mushy stuff wasn’t done..
NOW for the fun(er) stuff.

What I’ve learned
Blogging takes WORK. Hard, honest work that I honestly didn’t think was that INVOLVED at first. It didn’t take me long to figure that out but…
Some of the best books out there are self-pub. Don’t let those big names fool you.
As much as I disagree and I could really care less; numbers are a HUGE part of your blog. That, I learned the hard way.
ARCs aren’t the best thing known to man.
We make mistakes. And this is OKAY.
Social Media is like High School. There are groups, cliques, drama and ALWAYS people to avoid. (sorry, but it’s true)
Blog for you. Don’t change who you are or what you do, because someone else says so OR it’s wrong. It’s not. Being true to yourself is what is important. Don’t blog for numbers. Read what you want, post when you want and say what you want. Just be careful, people take offense to that. 😉
(Of course, this is my opinion and in no way am I telling you to change. So don’t take my statement as such :P)
Make Friends. The people I have met this year are LIFERS. They will always be close to my heart. And, it’s nice to have allies (HAHA Just Kidding. Kind of)
Goals for 2014
ME TIME. I am pushing myself to read more ME books.
Less requesting. This kinda goes along with what I said up there ^^^
No more pressure. I will do what I MUST to avoid this.
Say no more often.
Be more involved with discussions and my friends.
So, maybe this was MORE then a nutshell. But, there you have. I hope everyone had an awesome 2013.
Here’s to 2014!
PS: Sorry I didn’t use any covers or pictures. I guess I was lazy after all. 😉
PSS: (or is it PPS? whatever) I will be doing MORE changes this year. Look for that update
