I’ve been a DIY chick for years – and this whipped body butter is one of my favorites to make!
There is nothing like having a creamy, amazing smelling Whipped Body Butter that leaves your skin soft without a long-lasting oily residue. I’ve been struggling to perfect my recipe but now, I am pretty confident I’ve done it!
While some recipes do a 50:50 ratio, I found that I like more butter than oil. Most body butters that I’ve tried, and made, go on kind of oily but they should absorb into your skin fast. That’s because there aren’t water-based.Looking for a new Whipped Body Butter recipe? Try this one! #DIY #naturalbeauty #bodybutter Click To Tweet
When choosing essential oils, find scents that go well together that aren’t overpowering. You should have a good ratio of Top, Middle, and Bottom notes. For this recipe, I used only 3 drops since it’s such a small batch. (I often make them in small batches until I found the right recipe for me, and so it doesn’t go bad.)
A general rule is to do 50:30:20. But for this recipe, I did 2:1 – no middle notes.

Whipped Body Butter
- 1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
- 1/4 Cup Mango Butter
- 1/4 Cup Shea Butter
- 1 tablet of Vit E
- Essential Oils (for this recipe, I used Rosemary & Lemongrass)
- Jar (glass mason jars work great!)
Melt oil + butter in a double boiler; stir until melted & well mixed.
Add vitamin E.
Remove from heat and pour into a metal or glass bowl.
Let sit for at least 1 hour at room temperature. If you get impatient, you can place in refrigerator, but keep an eye on it because the coconut oil hardens quite easily. Once it starts to set, add essential oils (remember ratio!) and use a hand mixer to whip until stiff peaks form.
Place in a container and enjoy! Store in a cool dry place. If it gets too warm, the coconut oil melts!
