Author Spotlight // We Rule the Night by Claire Eliza Bartlett (+Giveaway)

FacebookTweetPinEmailShares87

Today, I have debut author Claire Eliza Bartlett talking about her novel We Rule the Night (which is OUT NOW!) You can enter for a chance to win a copy of the book below, too!

1.) Thank you for coming on the blog today. For those that are not familiar with We Rule The Night (and they should be!), can you describe it in a tweet?

Two girls fly magic planes in an epic war, battling their enemies, their male colleagues and each other for the right to fight and fly.

2.) Your book is set in a fantasy world, what was your favorite part in developing the world? What was the most difficult?

My favorite part was definitely comparing it to the real world spaces it was based on, primarily the USSR. It pushed me out of the usual secondary world spaces that I’m used to reading and the research was FASCINATING. It was also the hardest part of developing, though – I had to be conscious of the way I changed my world and the far reaching consequences seemingly small changes could have on an entire society.

Come meet debut author @bartlebett and enter to win a copy of her book, We Rule the Night. #Bookgiveaway Click To Tweet

3.) What message do you want your readers to take from We Rule The
Night?

First, that you can do anything. Second, when you truly know what’s right, it’s worth fighting for, even when you lose.

4.) Are you working on anything right now… and can you share?!

I’m working on two projects and I don’t know how much I can share! Project one is a standalone political fantasy, a sort of mash up between the Romanovs and the 12 dancing princesses and the Shape of Water.

Project two is still under wraps, but I can tell you it’s pretty on brand…and brutal. 😉

5.) What (other) debuts are you excited to get your hands on?

My order of THE PERFECT ASSASSIN by K.A. Doore has apparently shipped…I can’t wait for it to get here! I’m also super excited for THE TIGER AT MIDNIGHT by Swati Teerdhala and THE CANDLE AND THE FLAME

I recommend the Jane Hawke series by Dean Koontz! I’m on the 3rd volume, “The Crooked Staircase,” and it’s all quite riveting!

I cannot wait to see this book in person; the cover looks like it is going to be that much more stunning in person! My dad is a pilot, so I would LOVE to have a book that we would both enjoy! (This never, ever happens, hence the excitement.)
