A Glance at the First Books I Ever Reviewed

First Books I Ever Reviewed

First Books I Ever Reviewed is part of Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Have you ever went back to read your old reviews?

Spoiler: It will be terrible.

When I saw this prompt for our First 10 Books I Reviewed, I chuckled a little, because I know 99% of these reviews were ranting/fangirling and just written so, so poorly!

Please don’t go and read those reviews!

In any case, here are 10 of the First Books I ever reviewed whether they were here on the blog or Goodreads.

A Glace at the First Books I Ever Reviewed

  • Angelfall – Still one of my favorite Angel books!
  • Drink Deep – I loved this series so much. I should go back and finish it.
  • Opal – I no longer talk about this series. >.<
  • The Lost Prince – The Iron King (predecessor series) was one of the best I’ve read. I love Julie Kagawa.
  • Easy – This was one of my first NA books.
  • Shadow & Bone – I apparently liked this one? But I never continued the series.
  • The Demon Lover – Same. I loved it but don’t remember much about it!
  • The Water Witch – Faires!
  • Unravel Me – Warner FTW. β™₯β™₯
  • The Hunt – I can’t get over this book. The smelling of the armpit thing. I CAN’T.

Yep, I’ve gone back and read my old reviews some times and instantly regret it haha! My first ever review was of The Perks of Being a Wallflower and although it actually wasn’t THAT bad, it still made me cringe.

Yes, those old reviews were awful, but I’m still glad I at least left a record of what I read and how much I liked each one. I wish I’d written more in depth, but, hey, it’s something!

I hope you will stop by my blog and see what you think of my first reviews. My post is here.

Same here! Although I usually use Goodreads for what’s I’ve read/reviewed.

Great list! I think I reviewed Angelfall fairly early on in my blogging life, too, and The Water Witch sounds like one I need to check out!

I LOVE Angelfall! I’m one for gory and horrifying, so that makes sense. >.<

Wow, my first review was in 2012! Crazy! I don’t feel like I’ve gotten any better though. Now it’s almost painful because I’m constantly trying too hard when I review after reading the way everyone else writes them. I think they are stiff and not enough of me actually telling what I feel about the book. Looking back at those reviews is kind of enlightening!

WOW that is So long ago!!!

I see some of each in my reviews. Some people want to know how it makes YOU feel. Others, what to know how it was will make THEM feel. I think a good balance of each is good. πŸ™‚

Smelling of the armpit?!? Wha…I don’t even want to know. LOL!

I refuse to go back and read my old reviews. At this point in time, anyway. I’m not taking them down I’m just…hoping people read my new ones before reading any of the old ones. Haha.

Everyone’s so embarrassed by their old reviews, but I think it’s great that we can go back and look at them and see how far we’ve come. It’s interesting to see how reading tastes and reviewing styles change over the years.

    Happy TTT!

I can understand the cringe-ness of old reviews! A lot of my old reviews were the same way (but I enjoyed poking fun at them this week). I loved Angelfall, Unravel Me, and Shadow and Bone! I read The Hunt and I don’t remember any armpit smelling, but I don’t remember anything about that book!

I have yet to read Shadow and Bone but it is a trilogy that I want to finally understand the hype about. I have been indexing my blog since I moved to self hosted like a year ago and just never got around to it. My reviews were terrible. I’d like to think I’ve gotten better.

Easy is SUCH a throwback, I am grinning a bit. I mean, it wasn’t for me, but I think it was my first NA experience as well so I am kind of soft for it in a way!? ALSO, yess, Warner mention. Kind of want to reread the original Shatter Me books soon. Ahhh, I feel like I want to reply to all of the first books you reviewed but I definitely don’t want to overwhelm you with a novel length comment! BUT!!!! So many memories for a lot of these books.
