Short answer, I’m not. However. As someone that has conducted interviews FOR multiple employers, and one that has been on a few myself, I can attest to what works, and how you can ROCK that interview and land the job.

5 Interview Tips To Help You Rock That Interview
Be Prepared & Get Your Questions Ready
Gather your intel about the company. Research their salaries, reviews, and how they stack up against their competitors. What are the company’s core values? Do they promote within? Are they diverse?
Being prepared will not only make you less anxious during the interview, but you’ll also feel more confident.
Practice answering these following questions:
- Tell me about yourself
- Why do you want to work for this company? What interests you about this role?
- What makes you perfect for this role?
- Why should we hire you?
- How do you handle stress?
- What are your goals for the future?
Have a list of questions for the interviewer as well. You aren’t THE ONLY one on an interview. You are interviewing that company as well to see if that is a place you want to work or not.
A few questions to ask:
- What potential is there for growth?
- What makes a strong candidate for this role?
- Can you share the day to day responsibilities for this role?
- How long have you been employed here? What do you love (and dislike) most about your role?
- Where do you see [the company] in the next 5 years?
- Is there tuition reimbursement? (If you’re interested in that.)
- Do you have an expected date for when you’re making the decision for the role?
This is just a start! Of course, you don’t have to ask ALL of these. Pick a few you feel comfortable with. And be on the lookout for my comprehensive list coming soon!
It sounds like an obvious tip, but you would be surprised by how many individuals don’t dress professionally.
And how many I’ve seen.
My advice would be to dress in neutral colors. Yes, you can add some colorful flair to your outfit, but nothing TOO loud. Accessorizing with color is an excellent way to add something POP to your outfit.
Have a blazer or jacket paired with slacks (NO JEANS OR LEGGINGS!) with a beautiful blouse. Wear a dress or skirt, at an appropriate length. And for all that is holy, do not wear anything see-through.
Also, something to consider: the type of job. Depending on your field, you CAN dress up or down. Just use your best judgment.
But still, no jeans or leggings!

Be on time
This, too, sounds like an obvious tip. Yet, here we are…
Have you heard the expression, “when you’re early, you’re on time, when you’re on time, you’re late?”
BE EARLY. About 15 minutes, 20 at the max.
This shows that you are professional, courteous, and excited for the opportunity. It also shows time management skills.
But don’t sit around browsing social media and taking selfies. Keep your phone in your bag or pocket, ON SILENT. They are more than likely watching you, as ominous as that sounds.
I’ve already hinted at this under “Be Prepared.” Practice answering the questions, OUT LOUD. It also helps if you do it in front of a mirror, or take a video and watch.
Find words that you use as fillers, such as “um” or “like.” Look at your facial expressions. Where are you looking? Do you talk with your hands? (I do, totally not a bad thing if you do! Just be aware of it.)
If you figure out these simple things to change, your confidence will soar, and you will impress the interviewer.
Send an Email or Thank You Card
I cannot stress this enough.
After your interview, send an email addressing it directly to the person that interviewed you, thanking them for the time, consideration, and a statement in the likes of, “I look forward to hearing from you.” or “I look forward to hearing great news from you soon!”
If you were on a panel interview, or just had more than one person present, send an individual email to all of them, and change up the wording a bit.
This shows your excitement for the job, that you’re again, courteous, and follow-through.
You should have their contact information since they, at some point, have contacted you. If you don’t, email the HR department or recruitment, asking for their email.
I have “send a THANK YOU card,” but you want that instant IN YOUR FACE communication with an email, that a Thank you card doesn’t provide. But, you could always send one later to the recruiter, and/or hiring manager, should you chose to.
