Series I Didn’t Finish {Part 2} The One’s I (probably) Never Will

Series I didn't finish part 2

A couple of weeks ago, I shared the first part in this little mini-series (haha puns), featuring a few books/series I didn’t finish – because of time, rereading or just forgetting everything about the previous books. Whatever the reason be, we all have series left unfinished. And if you don’t please tell me your ways! This time, I want to share and discuss a few more series that I haven’t finished, but this time, the ones I don’t plan on finishing!

I read book 1, Article 5, about a year a half ago. Even then, I was hesitant on picking up the series, mainly because I’m pretty sure it was published during the dystopian era and I was just over them. Anyway, I don’t recall many details about the book, but I do remember that I didn’t care for it and there was slight… disconnected from it all. That being said, I did like how dark this world was!

Don’t hate me, k? But I just can’t bring myself to finish this series! I really liked the first book. The Darkling, especially (because we all know my mind is twisted and I like the evil ones). The world was quite fascinating, too. But I’ve tried. I’ve picked up Siege and Storm, TWICE, and I just can’t get into it. But the covers are gorgeous. I love them so much, I bought the trilogy!

This is one of those PRE BLOGGING SERIES that I read (the first two, anyway) that I feel if I were to pick up for the first time today, I wouldn’t like. I actually fell asleep reading Beautiful Darkness. I loved the GOOD vs BAD vibe this had going for it, but it’s just not my cup o’tea anymore.

Love the cover edition for Firelight I had to get? LOL

I previously mentioned the dystopian era regarding another series. I think this series was the love triangle era. You remember, when EVER FREAKING BOOK had a love triangle in it!? But, you think, DRAGONS! I get it, I was thinking the same thing! But no. Again, I tried reading Vanish several times to no avail. I also chalk it up to the PRE BLOGGING SERIES love shelf that I wouldn’t touch today. *shrug*

Tell me your thoughts

♥ Have you read any of the above-listed series? Are they worth finishing?

♥ What’s a series that you quit reading, for whatever reason, that many people LOVE?

I haven’t read any of these, so I guess I can’t comment on whether or not you should finish them. I do have the first two Beautiful Creatures books so I might read those someday … but now that I’ve seen this I’m less likely to actually pick them up. I try to forget the series I don’t plan to finish and pretend they don’t exist – as soon as I think about them, I’m sure to convince myself that I should give them another try. 🙂

I couldn’t get into the Beautiful Creatures series either. I even tried again after the movie, although the movie didn’t impress me either.

Shadow and Bone was definitely the best book out of the series. I had a weakness for the Darkling too, so you’re not alone there. 🙂

I haven’t read any of the other series you mentioned, but there are quite a few bestselling books that I couldn’t get into or didn’t finish.

I totally agree with you on Beautiful Creatures. I KNOW I would hate it now. As for finishing them? You’d be just fine to go on about your life never having read them 😉 Now, the Grisha series… there’s a really great character in S&S that you may want to meet. Then, if you still aren’t feeling it, you can give it up. The others I have not read, so I really can’t say. I’d like to read Article 5 one day. The other one would be a big nope for me I think!

I absolutely love The Grisha trilogy. The Darkling is awesome, evil characters are so much fun to read about. I think it’s worth finishing, but if you’re just not into it, don’t force yourself. There are plenty of other books waiting to be read 😀

I haven’t read any of the series that you are quitting, but I quit two series last year (as in, I’m not picking up the books for this year). One is Anita Black by Laurell K. Hamilton. The series is at 24 books and I just can’t deal with the politics of the woman’s love life any more. The first several books are great, if you like high action, police style, high violence UF series, but then a lot of sex gets involved and the plot suffers.

The second one I dropped is Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. That series has so many plot strings that I can’t keep up any more. Some of those seem to disappear for no reason and without resolution. It is frustrating. Too many books out there to continue with series that I’m not enjoying any more.
