It’s just another day – one that is over-marketed towards couples and will only hold as much significance as you give it.

Easier said than done, right? With the mass amounts of social media posts, outlandish and elaborate gifts, and constant marketing with TV ads, store ads and sales, etc. it can be a challenge to feel good on Valentine’s Day. This could also be true if the person you’re in a relationship with doesn’t hold the holiday in the same regard as you. This is why making this day a Self Care Day for you is the key to making it a day to remember!
The key is to acknowledge the day does exist – trying to forget about it will only make things worse and drive you crazy. Embrace the day – your relationship with yourself is the most important one of all.

Take a Social Media Break
Again, easier said than done, right? But removing the temptation to see your friends and family posts may be what you need, mentally. Just turn off notifications for the day – and continue making the day about YOU.
Take yourself out to dinner and a movie
There is something about having a meal to yourself that is satisfying. Take time reading over the menu and find something new. Go somewhere you LOVE and haven’t been in a long time. Or visit a new restaurant and become a tourist in your own city.
And honestly, have you been to a movie alone? It isn’t lame – and you should never feel that way about it! You get all the popcorn and candy to yourself. 😉

If spending time alone isn’t your thing, or you know it just isn’t the right thing for you to this day specifically – get your friends together and hang out for the day. It doesn’t have to be a Valentine’s bashing event, or a “Galentine’s Day” affair – make it low key and simple.
Treat yo self
Get yourself a little something. Take yourself to the spa and have a relaxing day letting others pamper YOU. Have you been eyeing something but have been putting off buying it? GET IT!
