There’s always one more grave to dig.

Lately, life has been unnaturally calm for vampires Cat Crawfield and her husband Bones. They should have known better than to relax their guard, because a shocking revelation sends them back into action to stop an all-out war…

A rogue CIA agent is involved in horrifying secret activities that threaten to raise tensions between humans and the undead to dangerous heights. Now Cat and Bones are in a race against time to save their friends from a fate worse than death…because the more secrets they unravel, the deadlier the consequences. And if they fail, their lives—and those of everyone they hold dear— will be hovering on the edge of the grave

It’s really difficult to review a book that’s the end to a series. Especially a series that has been one of your favorites. The Night Huntress series has been one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series since I picked up Halfway to the Grave years ago. Although I am sad to see this series end, I am content at the same time.

There are always things I expect to get when heading into these books. Action, snark and a gutsy twist. Jeaniene does not hold back in this finale. I loved that pretty much all the characters are present at some point or another. Ian, Vlad (MY FAVORITE), Mencheres, Marie, Tate and the gang. And also, Don. When everything started to fall apart, or into place rather, we got to see more of all the things that Don has done. It’s pretty twisted and the revelations just kept on coming.

As far as the romance goes, Cat & Bones are one of my all time favorite couples. As a couple, they have been through so much together, grown together and if any couple deserves a break & HEA, it’s these two. We don’t get as many… smexy scenes, which was okay for me. Nothing can top One Foot in the Grave, anyway (if you know what I MEAN).

The ending was, in my eyes, pretty much perfect. I feel like everything was wrapped up as nicely as it could be, but knowing the spin-offs and hopefully Ian’s book, I am sure we will see this infamous couple again.

My Peeve – There is something that happens in this book that ties in with Twice Tempted, Vlad’s second book (which I have not read yet), and it was something BIG. I’m a little peeved over the fact it was ruined for me, since again, I haven’t read it. If there was something posted, anywhere, that said it’s better to read that book first, I missed the memo. SO, READ TWICE TEMPTED FIRST, mm’kay!?

Overall- Loved. It’s always bittersweet when your favorites comes to an end. BUT. Since I am wrapped up in this world, I know I will see those two again. Must read series.

“Everyone… we’ll see you again, some soon, some later, but as vampires say, until again.”

Thanks for the warning about the Twice Tempted spoiler. I need to read it and this one. But I have them, so hopefully I can read them soon. I do love this series and it’ll be sad to see them go. Or at least Cat and Bones. But I do kind of feel like they’ve run their course now. Glad to hear it’s a pretty good conclusion!

Aww yay! I’m glad it ended the way you wanted it to! Sucks about getting a big spoiler in there though. I definitely want to pick this up and finish the series because I really enjoyed most of it. (The last book I rated really low)Still- Cat and Bones are some of my favorites and I do love seeing them. And you’re right. Nothing can beat One Foot in the Grave! LOL
