Welcome back to yet another Random Rants and Rambling!
If you know me well, or have been here long, you know that I am pretty much an open book (bahaha). I don’t hold back, I share pretty much everything and will, if given the chance.
My life is crazy. I’m married–I have two boys. 4 cats. 2 dogs and I work full-time. Add cleaning, cooking, reading, reviewing and whatever else on the blog, and well, you can see that I might need a little balance.
And a Schedule.
Yes, Schedule is capitalized.
When I started blogging (books) I was working part-time, barely 20 hours a week. I felt like I had all the time in the WORLD for reading, blogging, cooking cleaning and ALL THAT. Which compared to now? I did. So when I started working full time, it was really hard for me to find a balance. It took me at least a full month to plan out my day/week, my schedule and really get into the swing of things. So, just if you’re curious, here is a typical week. If you aren’t, well then… Fine.
I have my schedule down to a T. Get up, Make coffee, feed the cats, shower. etc. One thing that bothers me is when my schedule gets screwed up. I have to be in the shower by X time. I have to leave the house by X time. I have to hit the freeway (highway) at X time. If I don’t? I freak out.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
I hate Monday’s. Only because the kids FIGHT with me tooth and nail to get up. My oldest, is pretty good about it and has actually started waking up at 5am. I have no idea why other than he wants to be the first one up. And yeah, at 5 am you are the first one up. My youngest? NOPE.
I get to work @ 8 and leave @ 6-6:30. Which means I don’t get HOME until 7, at the earliest. Depends on traffic (horrible) and what time I actually leave work.
Every morning, I touch up any blog posts I might be posting that day and post it. I can get on SOME social media sites at work, so that’s why sometimes you will see my tweets or whatever during the day. I read at breaks, at lunch, in the elevator, waiting on people at meetings, (this kills me but YAY reading time) and I listen to audiobooks to and from work. Depending on traffic (again, horrible) I can get 2- 2 1/2 hours in a day on an audio.
Usually, dinner is done by the time I get home. So I eat. Talk about our day. I hang out with the boys for about an hour. They start getting ready for bed around 8 ish, and I take my ME TIME bath. I read in there too. (TMI but whatever) We read to my youngest every night, or he reads to us. And from 9-9:30, my oldest sits with me and we read together. (He is currently reading The Hunger Games.) All the while, my husband is doing his THING.
I stay up usually until 11-11:30 reading. This is how I can still read 3-5+ books a week.
Wednesday is special because I am OFF. After taking the boys to school, I do blog stuff, until around noon. That’s 5 hours. I write out Thursday and Friday’s post. Comment, work on my schedule, organize my ARCs, post on Goodreads (if I missed anything). Pay my bills. Then, I do whatever errands need to be done for the week, because NO KIDS. The night’s are the same as the other days of the week.
Am I boring you yet?!
Saturday is when I draft ALL my blog post (assuming I have all the materials). This is why I am so picky about what I post and what day I post. If someone doesn’t send me materials, lets say for a cover reveal, until 24hrs before, and the post is to go up on Tuesday, it throws my WHOLE DAY off. Hence another reason I try to post those types of post on Monday’s or Wednesday’s and tours for Friday’s. That gives me TIME to draft the post, write the review etc.. I get off the PC at noon. This will either give me 2 hours to draft or 5 hours, depending on what time I wake up. I have to be off at noon.
The rest of the day, we clean. Joy right? We go out and do any additional errands that have to be done.. We usually go shopping on Saturday’s, assuming we have money to LOL. I read throughout the day, a page or chapter here and there. We watch movies, sometimes, so I will read until midnight or later after that.
This is when I WRITE all my post. All reviews for the week (if I have enough time). I start working on my Week in Books post and/or my Monthly Wrap Up Posts and sometimes, will comment. Again, I have until noon. Like right now, it’s 11:27 and I keep glancing at the clock to see how much time I have left. The rest of the day is pretty much FREE TIME. YAY.
This is why I am NOT a spontaneous person. I plan EVERYTHING out to the T. Everything is in this nice, beautiful schedule and keeps me grounded. I am not kidding you, when I say that if something is OFF it throws EVERYTHING off.
I am also lucky that my kids are so independent. We do spend a lot of time together, but they are happy on their own, doing their own thing. This may sound some kinda way, but I cannot STAND clingy. They can’t either. My husband though?! pfft, I won’t even go there 😉
So, this is a look into my life. Fun, right? 🙂
