Just an Update – Where I’ve Been

An Update on Where I've Been

The Answer – I’ve been HERE. Just not… here.

Wow. It’s been so long since I have written a post – even logging into WordPress – it took me a minute to remember how all of it works. Good news, it’s like riding a bike. I just hope the rest of it comes back just as easy!

ivemissedIt’s been weird, y’all. Not gonna lie, it’s also been… nice. And easy. Stress-free (that’s a lie, but whatever). And just liberating, not having to worry about the blog, “obligations,” and keeping up with everything that running a blog entails. However, I’ve missed it. I’ve missed the 5-hour marathon writing and commenting sessions every weekend. I miss discussing all things bookish with my bookish peeps. I’ve missed reading. I’ve just MISSED EVERYTHING.

The time I’ve taken was something I’ve needed to take for a long time. I needed me time. In not just the blogging front, but EVERYTHING. I’m still needing that time – and I will continue to take that time. But I’ve come to the point where I know I can share more about what’s going on openly, with you, and be more active. Worry not; that share session is not today, but it IS coming.

So, what have I been doing?

Not Reading

No really, the last book I finished was on November 7th – and it was Forget Me Always by Sara Wolf. Which, I did like. (And need to review still.) I’ve picked up several different books; from romance to middle grade, and nothing has held my interest. I also have issues listening to audio books in my car since my accident, so I haven’t done that either. That being said, I’ve gotten some amazing book mail that has/had me internally screaming a bit, so yay!

It’s no secret that I am a workaholic. Sadly, those days are numbered with my current employer. I am 99% sure I told y’all that I resigned and my last day is December 30th. It’s bittersweet. I’ve worked closely with 4 specific people who I will miss dearly… they are my people. We are a close team, and even though we have made semi-plans to keep in touch, I will miss seeing their faces every day. One, in particular, has become such an important fixture in my life it’s difficult for me to come to terms with not seeing them all the time. But, all of you as my witness, I CANNOT WAIT TO BE DONE.

Music has always been a large part of my life, but lately, I listen to music ALL the time. It’s replaced listening to audio books during my commute. It just makes me feel good, and I love that I’ve reconnected with it. It’s one of those things I didn’t realize that I missed it until I “got it back.” Weird, I know.

Watching TV

Another WHO ARE YOU? kind of thing, but I’ve been watching a lot of TV. I finally caught up on Grey’s Anatomy. Just this weekend, I started another show called Peaky Blinders, which I love. I have a thing for crime shows, especially with organized crime. (Serial killers, too, but let us explore that at a later date, shall we?) And of course Football. If there’s a game on, my TV is playing it.

outletMy Etsy store has been booming! Not really, I’ve gotten like 10 sales in the past 2 weeks – but it’s been crazy! I did a custom order of a Game of Thrones bookmark that was actually reviewed. You can check out the video here. In addition to that, I’ve made a lot of jewelry. It’s another outlet for me to express myself and I love it. If you want to order something, use the code UPDATES to save 10%! But be sure to order soon if they are for Christmas! Visit the shop.

Soul Searching

Not really but kind of? I’ve hit this point in my life where I am just wanting, and needing, to be me. Yes, sounds easy in theory but it’s rather difficult actually. It’s a lot to get into, and as mentioned above, I said I wouldn’t have THAT share session now, so I won’t. But I feel like I’m on a journey, to where? I don’t know. What I do know is that I have the right people in my life to get me there and I can’t wait to see where that is.

So, that’s basically it.

Tonya! I miss you! Happy to hear from you and that you’re doing well. I am right there with you on the soul searching. What a journey!
I haven’t been very present in the blogging world either, but am slowly finding my way back without being overwhelmed by all the stress that comes with it.
As for reading, I’ve been working my way (slowly) through the Outlander series and a reread of the Mortal Instruments series.

Welcome back! I’m glad you enjoyed your break from blogging. It’s so nice to not have the pressure of blogging and reading other blogs and reading books and reviewing and that whole palaver really. I actually intended to be a bit more absent in December because I noticed myself getting fatigued and not being motivated to blog but as soon as I mentioned that on my blog I suddenly has this renewed interest in blogging and I think it was because I took the pressure off of myself by saying I wouldn’t be around as much. It’s strange isn’t it? I think it’s good that you’ve missed blogging, though. It’s always a sign you still enjoy it which is good, even when you need a break from it sometimes.

I’m glad you’re enjoying Peaky Blinders, I actually watched it when it was on the BBC and loved it. It’s a show I love so much because I leave around the Birmingham area so for me it’s a local thing so I’ve got to support it. That and I live 20 mins away from the Black Country Museum where some of it is filmed (no, turns out these celebrities do not stay hanging around when they don’t need to).

I’m sorry you’re sad about leaving your current job but you’re obviously ready to leave. Sadly, liking the people you work with cannot always be a good enough reason to stay in a job. It’ll be an adjustment but as long as you put the effort in you can totally stay in touch with them and see them outside of the work place.

So happy you’re back! (I’m sorry for not replying on Twitter. Just last night I saw I had a message. I deleted the app from my phone so I only go there to post something and then I’m done.) Anyways, I’ve always said it’s great to take breaks. I take mine all the time, pretty much every week haha But a long break is also needed. Blogging is stressful, plus adding that to the regular day-to-day life stress is a lot. I’m just so happy you’re back! You’ve been missed around here <3
I need to catch up on Grey's Anatomy. I'm only on season 7. I'm so behind lol I'll be back right after I finish Gilmore Girls!

I’m glad taking some time away from the blog has been good for you! It’s always a good feeling when you start to miss something that was causing you stress before. I’m in the same boat with one of my colleagues, I’m really going to miss her! My plan is to try and get lunch once a month or something. Hope you find a book that grabs your attention soon 🙂
