You take it for granted. Waking up. Going to school, talking to your friends. Watching a show on television or reading a book or going out to lunch.

You take for granted going to sleep at night, getting up the next day, and remembering everything that happened to you before you closed your eyes.

You live and you remember.

Me, I live and I forget.

But now—now I am remembering.

For all of her seventeen years, Molly feels like she’s missed bits and pieces of her life. Now, she’s figuring out why. Now, she’s remembering her own secrets. And in doing so, Molly uncovers the separate life she seems to have led…and the love that she can’t let go.

The Half Life of Molly Pierce is a suspenseful, evocative psychological mystery about uncovering the secrets of our pasts, facing the unknowns of our futures, and accepting our whole selves.

I received this book for free from The Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This is one of the books where the less you know before going in, the better. Thus, my review will be vague.

What would you do if you had regular blackouts? Huge gaps of time missing from your life, with no one to turn to and no way to figure out what’s going on? That’s what Molly has to live with on a daily basis.

The Half Life of Molly Pierce is an interesting, gripping read. The writing is amazing; snagging you in from page 1 and holding on until the end. It’s a unique writing style and I can see it not working out well for other readers. I loved how everything was pieced together and how the memory flashes came back.

There were a few times when I was just sitting with my mouth slighting gaping (attractive, right?) because I had no idea what was going on. It didn’t take long to figure out it out though. And although I did catch on to what was happening before I felt like I should have, I still enjoyed it immensely.

Molly was an easy character to like and connect to. She’s quiet, scared and lonely. You don’t get those vibes from her right off the bat but the more you dig deeper into her thoughts, you see it. Yet, she is strong too. When things starting to come together, she set off to figure everything out and her determination is awe inspiriting.

My heart broke for her on many occasions. I wish I could go into more detail without spoilers, but like I said, the less you know the better.

My Peeve –

Eh, the ending. It’s not really the ENDING per se, but I felt like there was more we should have known about Molly and what was happening to her.

Overall –

I really loved it! Gripping and mysterious, it will hold you until the end. I am looking forward to other works by Katrina.
